My World Tour - Samos Island, Greece |
Back to Home Page to Greece Main Page
Samos - This was an important center of Hellenic culture and is reputedly the birthplace of the philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras. (you know, the dude with the triangle and the equations A2 + B2 = C2 )
A cemetery we found was quite interesting with the above ground tombs with glass casings of photos and personal objects. It also had a cool castle wall just asking for Bruce to climb. |
Who says that the only art you find in Greece are ancient relics? This was hanging in the door of a coffee shop in town. | Sea side view with the Greek flags in the wind. |
Here is a place that we forgot to write down the important information, such as the name, age, historic significance. So we'll just tell you that we think we remember that it was one of the "Seven Ancient Wonders of the World" (oohh, ahhh). Don't quote us on it, we're on a big trip and things slip our minds. However, take a look at the size of that pillar, it's a whopper!!! |
We had a good time renting scooters around the island. We really like the "Popeye the Sailor Man" feel of the town. |
This island is a major connecting point for Turkey. We took a ferry over to the city of Kusadasi to start our journey thru the land of carpets and tea. |
