The island of Murano is the home of Venetian glass, arguably the best production of hand blown glass in the world.

• Shopping tip you Kmart shoppers:  If anyone wants to buy glass in Venice, don’t go to Murano (where the glass factories are located) their prices are 2 times higher than the shops on the main island along the tourist shopping strip.

Burano is still a relatively sleepy fishing village, renowned for its lace making.  The houses are very colorfully painted.  No tourists are allowed to spend the night on the island.
